Feast Your Eyes On This:

Blue Nudes, Henri Matisse, 1952

Apart from being a fan of the Fauves and their movement in Modern Art, I have a great appreciation for art and Matisse in general. I am about to embark on a biographical analysis of Henri Matisse for the Modern Art class I am taking this semester. This, by the way, is the reason that you will most likely be getting lots of samples of Modern Art in the Feast Your Eyes on This section because I am more frequently exposed to Modern Art in my daily life due to that class. Anyways, the movement and flexibility of this piece relax me. It appears a very active pose yet in a calm state of mind, much like yoga. I love the representational yet slightly abstract form of this cut-out. There is fluidity and wholeness in this image which is interesting to discuss given its medium. I always appreciate comments and would love to hear about and learn about other artists and works that are particular favorites. But for the most part, just enjoy!
